My Computer (Laptop) won’t boot at all? Cannot login to my account!
When your computer won’t boot or cannot login to your account! You have to take into consideration this problem could be software or hardware issue. You may still be able to fix this problem by your self without calling Computer repair Services Company in your area. You may just need Microsoft operating system disks and some other tools.
I know you have many questions in your mind, why this happened to my computer? Did I lose my data? Was it a virus? Before I answer those questions let us do some quick diagnostics then you will find the answer for all of your questions.
Software Diagnostics:
Ask your self this question? Before this problem occurred what I had done? Did I install a new software or hardware device? Did I see windows updates or installed a new hardware driver such as video card, sound card …etc? If yes, then unplug the new hardware if that the case, or do system restore for software issue. Before you do system restore, try “Last Known Good Configuration”. Turn off your computer, turn it on again and immediately hit F8 on the keyboard many times until you get a black screen with many options, one of them Last Known Good Configuration, select it using the arrow key and hit enter. The system will reboot again by itself. If this worked then you are OK! If not, turn off the computer again, turn it on and immediately hit F8 many times until you get the black screen with Safe mode option, select it and hit enter, wait until windows load files and login to your account. If you use Windows XP, click the start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools and select system restore, click restore my computer to an earlier time, then on the calendar select the day before the problem occurred. Click next and finish. The system will reboot by it self and hopefully everything is fine. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, click on the start menu and type right away on the search box “system restore” and hit enter. Follow the instructions and select any day before this problem occurred. The system will reboot by itself, no need to do anything, just wait until you get the screen with login information. Did it work? Yes! You saved your self time and money and no need to take your computer to a PC repairs Shop.
If you are still unable to login to the normal mode neither the safe mode then it could be operating system is corrupted and needs to be repaired or re installed. Also, we have to consider and not to forget about hardware issues. Before taking the final decision let us go to the next step.
Hardware Diagnostics:
The first hardware device we think that could be crashed or damaged is the hard drive. Sometimes bad sectors on the hard drive may crash the system or damage some windows boot files. How can we check the hard drive? You must have windows installation disk otherwise it would be very hard to do hard drive diagnostics. Later on, I’ll write an article about “My hard drive crashed, how to repair hard drive failure?”
Cannot it do it your self? Hire Computer repair A2Z PC Service. They are located at 2184 Dundas St West, Toronto, Ontario. Free diagnostics, free estimate.
My Laptop won’t turn on at all? It shows a black Screen!
We are always getting calls from customers about laptops don’t turn on and nothing comes on the screen. This is a common problem with laptops regardless if the laptop new or old one. Sometimes the customers thought this problem is related to a computer virus and we had to explain to them that nothing to do with a virus and it just a hardware issue.
In this article you will learn how to troubleshoot your laptop or notebook if it won’t turn on at all and no image on the screen or just a blank screen without taking your laptop to a Laptop repair shop. If you can see the bios, the manufacturer logo or cannot logon to your account, then you have to read this article “My Computer (Laptop) won’t boot at all?”
The first thing you have to do is to check the power adapter cable. The power adapter cable sometimes stops working or could be damaged due to a power failure. If you have an extra adapter that would be a good idea to try it, but if you don’t then check the battery if there is enough charge on it. Some of these batteries have indicator and shows the power percentage. If the battery doesn’t have the power indicator then remove the battery and use only the power adapter. Most of notebook have power light led. It could be at the front or on the right side. The led will tell you if there is any power coming from the power adapter to the laptop. If the led is off or no light at all then the problem from the power adapter and you have to replace it. Now if the led is on and still you cannot turn the laptop on, in this case you have to recycle the power.
How can you recycle the power? Only four steps to recycle the power; 1- Unplug the power adapter from the laptop. 2- Remove the battery from the laptop. 3- Hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. 4- Plug the power adapter only without the battery and turn it on. If you are successfully able to turn it on then you are OK! What you need to do is just turn it off and put the battery on again and turn it back on. The laptop should work fine and if you get the same issue again! Think about replacing the battery.
You still have the problem after recycling the power! I’m so sorry to tell you this is a hardware problem such as Motherboard, power board, video chipset…etc and you should take it to a computer repairs shop in your area. Talk to the technician, give him the model number and try to get an estimate. Some laptops have an issue with video card chipset and need internal repairs.

Options For Storing Your Computer Files Online Or On Your Hard Drive
People collect information they want to keep on a daily basis. It can be a document, music, photos, video and other multimedia files. All files start in the C drive, or the computer section. It is organized in computer folders and stored there. This is treated as a temporary place. This should not be the permanent place because of possible computer crashes. For storage options in other places, backup important files in these areas.
CDs and DVDs
CD/DVDs storage may seem old-fashioned but this a way to store and retrieve files on the computer. Understand that copying files to this storage media only happens once with CD or DVD-R (recordable) while CD or DVD-RW (rewriteable) allows for editing and adding files as needed. CD is for smaller files and DVD is for larger ones. A burner is necessary to use either one of these discs. All a person has to do is drag-and-drop files. Make sure all files a person wants is in the disc before burning and closing it.
USB Drives
Using a USB flash drive or USB hard drive is the most common storage media. It’s a small device (for hard drives, a bulky device) that a person can store and carry on the go. Just plug it in the computer at the port and allow the computer to install the drive. After that it is a matter of using drag-and-drop to transfer files. They are more transportable than carrying a bunch of discs around. The Dell flash drive holds more than a CD/DVD but doesn’t hold as much as the external hard drive. It’s more expensive than discs but is easier to backup, edit, add and delete files.
Cloud Storage
An alternative way of saving important files is taking it to the cloud. Cloud storage is a way where a person can store their files to a virtual location. The location is connected to servers that store the file. It can be downloaded as a program on the computer or creating a profile on the website. A person doesn’t have to worry about losing the actual storage media like USB drives. Retrieving and editing files are done without plugging in any devices. It is becoming a popular option, even more than USB drives, because nothing has to be carried around; everything is online. There are free and for-fee options available. Free options do have their limits. All storage provides security features like encryption and passwords. If one server fails the others won’t because backup is done by a schedule or automatically. The other servers backup that server and so on. Unlike the others the information won’t wipe out eventually. At the same time cloud storage can be hacked or compromised. Be careful about what is stored online.
With options like these there is no reason to backup files. A person can maintain their files and know that everything will be safe and secure. Don’t wait until there is a computer meltdown. Do something and protect important files in Dell storage solutions.
My Desktop Computer won’t turn on at all?
Did you wakeup in the morning and turn your computer on, but it didn’t work?
Don’t panic! It could be something easy to fix it by your self without going to a computer repair company.
First of all, check the power bar. Make sure the power bar is working fine and try to use a different socket. If the power bar is OK! Check the power cable. The power cable usually is a black color almost 3 feet and plugged to the computer power supply and power bar. Make sure the power cable is plugged properly.
Most of the time the computer doesn’t turn on because of the power cable or power bar, but what about if none of them? Don’t worry you still can go to the next step. Before you go to the next step I’ll give you some information about the computer hardware. The computer case or tower has hardware components such as Motherboard, Hard drive, Memory, Video card and cables. The motherboard is the most sensitive part in the computer. Please note before you touch the motherboard you have to ground your self, if you don’t do that you could damage the motherboard. 30 v statics could damage the motherboard that’s why before you work on the motherboard touch the computer case for at least 10 seconds.
The next step, unplug the power cable. Open the side panel of the case, ground your self by touching the metal case for 10 seconds. Unplug the power cable the one it comes from the power supply to the motherboard it’s almost 24 pin and in few cases 20 pin. Unplug the power cable for the hard drive and CD/DVD drive. If the video card has a power cable unplug it as well. Wait 5 minutes and re plug all cables. Plug the power cables to the power bar and turn on the computer. Did it work? If yes, so you are OK! No need to continue reading this post. If no, then you have to think about the power supply and you may need to visit a computer repair shop in your local area. Power failure or power surge could damage the power supply and in some cases the motherboard. Changing the power supply is much cheaper than replacing the motherboard.
You could try to buy a power supply and replace it by your self, make sure the power supply has enogh Watt to turn on your computer, try to read the wattage on the old one and get the same one or higher. You have to consider if wasn’t the power supply issue then you lost the cost of the power supply unless you could return it back to the shop.
If you live in Toronto, Ontario area bring your computer to A2Z PC Computer Repair Services Shop. We are located at 2184 Dundas St West, Toronto, ON, M6R 1X3. A2Z PC’ technician will check your hardware and give you a free estimate in the same day.
I received a call unknown number from Microsoft about my computer!
Two weeks ago, I received a call “unknown number” from someone introduced him self as a Microsoft agent. The guy said we got your IP from your internet provider and we have to let you know that your Windows is not genuine and caused many problems on the internet. I said: “Really” I don’t know that and I’m so sorry. I didn’t tell the guy or “Microsoft agent” as what he said that I’m a computer technician and started to chat with him. I asked him how do you know my Windows is not genuine? The answer: Your ISP internet provider sent us your IP address and your contact information. OK! But I think my computer is fine and I don’t see any issue with it. No Sir there is an issue and you have to have a legal copy of Windows and make it genuine. How we can do that? Sir I will ask you to go to a website and download software. This software will let me remotely access your computer and fix this problem. OK! Is that free? No Sir, you have to pay $149 by credit card or PayPal account. Why should I pay $149 if I had paid $600 for my computer last year? Sir, you purchased a none genuine computer and you must allow us to access your computer remotely and fix this problem. OK! What about if I don’t allow you? Sir, we will ask your internet provider to block your internet connection. Oh my God! Please don’t do it. Then I asked him a smart question! Who is my internet provider? I was waiting for the answer until I heard the tone sound. The guy hanged up.
Microsoft never calls end users for Windows issues nor asks them to provide credit card information. Those calls are Scam and random calls. It’s not hard for them to guess your phone number or get it from online phone directories.
Don’t believe those calls and tell all family members and friends about them. If you already allowed them to access your computer and gave them your credit card information. Call your bank or credit card provider and ask them cancel this transaction and file a dispute case. Change your online banking password. Take your computer to a computer repair shop and ask them to inspect it if there is any suspicious software or viruses. Report this call to the police and give them detail information about this fraud.
We learn from our mistakes, but we always have to be very careful when someone asks us over the phone to provide credit card information.
Remember! A2Z PC computer repair services will help you to repair any computer problem. We are proud to carry the name of Computer Repairs in Toronto city.
